These terms apply when you use charlies.recipes, which is run by Charlie Mitchell (opens in a new tab) in the UK. By using it, you agree to them. How we handle your information is in the privacy policy.
The app
The app gives you design challenges to practise with. Briefs, clients and scenarios are made up for practice; any resemblance to a real organisation is unintended. The app is free, and we may change, pause or stop parts of it. Links to inspiration and learning resources go to other sites, which we don’t control.
Your account
You need to be 13 or older to create an account. Keep your sign-in secure, and don’t create an account for someone else or pretend to be someone you’re not. You can delete your account at any time from the Account page.
Your work
What you make is yours. You keep ownership of the work you upload. You can use it in your portfolio or anywhere else, including work made from our briefs.
So that we can run the app, you give us permission to store your work, make the copies needed to show it (such as smaller versions for the gallery) and show it to you. When you share a piece to the gallery, you also give us permission to show it publicly in the app, with your display name and website, until you make it private or delete it. This permission is free and only for running the app. We won’t use your work for advertising or sell it.
Only upload work you have the right to share. If your work includes someone else’s images, fonts, music or other material, make sure you’re allowed to use it.
Rules for sharing
Don’t upload or share anything that:
- is illegal, or encourages anything illegal;
- is hateful, harassing, threatening or discriminatory;
- is sexually explicit or graphically violent;
- copies someone else’s work and passes it off as yours;
- includes other people’s personal information without their permission;
- is spam, advertising or contains anything harmful, such as malware.
We can remove work that breaks these rules, and suspend or close accounts that break them repeatedly or seriously.
Reporting and complaints
Anyone signed in can report a shared piece from the gallery. Work that’s reported several times is hidden until we review it. We look at reports ourselves (no automated moderation), and take down anything illegal as soon as we know about it.
You can also report work, or complain about how we’ve handled a report, by emailing hello@charlies.recipes. If we’ve removed your work or closed your account and you think we got it wrong, email us and we’ll look at it again and reply.
Keep your own copies
We work hard to keep your work safe, but the app isn’t a backup service. Keep your own copies of anything that matters to you.
Our responsibility to you
The app is provided free and as it is. We don’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. As far as the law allows, we aren’t responsible for indirect losses, or for losses caused by things outside our control. Nothing in these terms limits responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Changes and the law
We may update these terms; we’ll change the date at the top and tell signed-in users about anything important. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring claims in your local courts.
